about

A recent study published in the journal Nature suggests that dietary plant sugar can promote antitumor immunity and enhance the efficacy of immunotherapy.

The study was conducted on mice and involved feeding them a high-sugar diet for six weeks. Relative to mice on a regular diet, those on the high-sugar diet exhibited increased numbers of T cells and enhanced antitumor immunity. Interestingly, this effect was not seen in mice who were given a low-sugar diet concurrent with the high-sugar diet.

Taken together, these results suggest that dietary sugars can promote antitumor immunity, which may have important implications for the development of therapeutic interventions that harness the body’s immune system to fight cancer.
