Unified Communications & Collaboration business (Unify)

Atos announced today that it has entered into exclusive negotiations with Mitel to sell its Unified Communications & Collaboration (UC&C) business, Unify. This marks an important milestone in the strategic transformation of Atos, enabling the company to focus on its core competencies in digital transformation and cloud solutions, and global technology services.

Unify is a leader in the UC&C space, with a portfolio of products and services that span from desktop and mobile communications to contact centre solutions and digital workplace solutions. As organizations increasingly move to cloud-based solutions, Unify’s portfolio has been especially well-suited for helping organizations with their digital transformation goals.

Atos CEO Elie Girard commented on the news, saying, “This transaction is perfectly in line with our strategy announced in March 2020, and this divestment will allow Atos to focus on our core activities and to continue our transformation journey. We have worked hard over the past few months to reach this agreement and I am very pleased with the outcome.”

Mitel, a Canadian-based communications technology company, is well positioned to take over the UC&C business of Unify. Mitel has a strong presence in both the enterprise and consumer markets, and its acquisition of Unify will help it to expand its presence in the UC&C space.

The deal is expected to close in the coming months, pending regulatory approval. With this move, Atos will be able to focus its efforts on its core digital transformation and cloud solutions offerings and strengthen its focus on global technology services. Mitel will benefit from the addition of Unify’s UC&C solutions, providing it with a more comprehensive suite of products and services.
