Most Texans support more school funding and teacher raises, new survey finds
A majority of Texans support more school funding and teacher raises, according to a new survey.
The survey, conducted by the University of Texas at Austin’s Texas Politics Project, found that 64 percent of respondents support more funding for schools, while 52 percent support raising teacher salaries.
Support for increasing school funding is highest among Democrats (79 percent) and lowest among Republicans (48 percent). Support for raising teacher salaries is highest among independents (64 percent) and lowest among Republicans (49 percent).
The survey polled 1,200 registered voters in Texas between March 15 and 21.
