On October 18, 2017, at around 11:00 PM, former professional tennis player and journalist, Patrizio Billio, passed away at the age of 48 after a long and courageous fight against a rare and incurable disease. Patrizio was known all over the world for his work as a tennis commentator and journalist, but he will also always be remembered for his passion and love for pádel – the Hungarian version of table tennis.
Patrizio was born in Brescia, Italy, in 1967. As a tennis player, he won a number of singles and doubles titles in Italy and later became a professional journalist. He was a regular commentator for both Italian and international tennis tournaments, and he also wrote a number of tennis books.
In 2011, Patrizio was diagnosed with a rare and incurable disease called amyloidosis. Despite the best efforts of the doctors, Patrizio passed away at the age of 48 after a long and courageous fight against this disease.
Patrizio was a wonderful friend and a great mentor to many young people. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all those who had the privilege of knowing him.
