The Harlequins coach, Conor O’Shea, has expressed his disappointment in the recent try scored by South African lock, Eben Etzebeth, during the European Champions Cup match between Harlequins and Toulon. Etzebeth appeared to take an obstruction from a teammate to run around the Harlequins defence and reach the try line, although the television match official deemed it legal.
O’Shea was clearly not happy with the outcome and said, “I don’t think it’s in the spirit of rugby. I know that it’s within the laws, but I don’t think it’s the way it should be played.”
Despite this, the Harlequins coach is determined to move on and focus on the rest of the season. He said, “We just have to move on and focus on the next game. We can’t keep dwelling on this.”
It is clear that O’Shea does not agree with the outcome, but is willing to take the decision on the chin and move on. This attitude is indicative of the professional and focused approach that he is taking to the season in order to get the best from the Harlequins team.
